Sahel Strategy Implementation Lead

The primary responsibility of this role is to further MSI's Goal: The Prevention of Unwanted Births and its mission of ensuring the individual's right to: Children by Choice Not Chance.

The Role:

The Sahel Strategy Implementation Lead is a regional post within the MSI Partnership. The role will entail working with all four country programmes to set up the roadmap to change and ensuring the implementation of the roadmap. In addition, this role will fundraise for the Sahel programmes, initially by building existing and new relationships with quickly moving towards creating clear opportunities for funding. Lastly, this role will build relationships across both MSI's London and US based support offices, drawing on expertise from both centres to support the delivery of this initiative. This is an initial one year short term contract with possibility of extension. The post is supported with a regional benefits package and requires extensive travel in the region and some outside the region.

This post reports to the Regional Director for West Africa but over time it is possible that this role will be directly managed by the single Sahel Representative (not yet in post). You will have the opportunity to drive initiatives across the 4 countries in the Sahel region, represent the organisation to donors and external parties, and drive the vision of the initiative.

About you:

To be considered for the role you will have:

  • Proven experience in change management and programme implementation, with line management nous.
  • Experience of working in Francophone West Africa, with a sound knowledge of cultural and governance structures.
  • At least five years' experience working at a senior management level with budget/cost centre accountability and managing funds.
  • Experience in the NGO sector is preferred.
  • Presentation skills and proven ability to represent an organisation externally to donors and governments.
  • Capacity building experience.
  • University degree in relevant field.

The role is offered on a local contract with some international benefits (including relocation where necessary).

Location: - Dakar, Senegal

Working Hours: - 35 hours per week

Salary: - £35-45k per annum (based on experience)
