Contract length: 02 Years

The role

As a member of the Senior Management Team in country, the Director of Operations is responsible for implementation of all programming in country, including the management of safety and security, management of all field offices, emergency preparedness and response (including DRR), and logistics.

Among key areas of accountability, the post holder contributes to

  • Oversee and manage overall coordination of program operations for field delivery of high quality program aligned with the country strategy
  • Participate to the program proposal process, ensure their timely and effective implementation in ways responsive to the communities
  • Ensure preparation of high quality progress, program and donor reports
  • Ensure adequate and effective country logistics, IT and asset capacities and systems
  • Mount appropriate and timely response to all emergencies
  • Manage staff safety and security, manage all country sub-offices

Qualifications and experience

  • Significant project management experience in a corporate or an NGO environment with a proven history of delivering results
  • Robust experience of NGO emergency program cycle management, and with experience of working within a complex and matrix organisation structure
  • Significant knowledge and experience of international humanitarian systems, institutions and donors, accountability frameworks and best practices in emergency management
  • An in-depth understanding of national and international development issues in particular in relation to children
  • Previous experience of managing and developing a team and the ability to lead, motivate and develop others
  • Masters' degree in development or equivalent experience
  • Fluency in both English and French, written and spoken
