The Opportunity
Against a backdrop of external change, Plan International is working to transform how we operate, in order to deliver a bold new strategy. This includes modernising our operating model, business processes, systems and the way we work through a portfolio of global change projects ahead of the implementation of a new strategy, starting in 2017. One of the key projects critical to the future of Plan’s Strategy is the realisation of Cost Savings across multiple categories of spend.
This exciting new position will work as part of a large new Project, hands on to improve the professionalisation of procurement practices in Plan International, tackling a number of priority categories to research and analyse how we spend, reduce costs and ensure that we are achieving the best possible value for money. The savings we’ll achieve in this project will enable us to redirect essential resources into achieving more for childrens’ rights and equality for girls in our countries.
You will analyse spend data and patterns to present analysis to inform category based decision making, researching markets and suppliers and internal and external trends and supporting key project deliverables including budget and project reports.
You will be responsible for analysing quotations and making recommendations in a competitive bidding process, as well as running the majority of a tender process from identifying business needs with key stakeholders through to award of contract.
Proactively maintaining and growing both our supplier and contracts databases you will anticipate new and emerging business needs, working with internal and external stakeholders to determine procurement needs, quality and delivery requirements, including supporting stakeholders in the development and articulation of specifications for equipment, materials and services to be purchased across a diverse range of procurement categories.
The Person
You will have experience of working in a procurement function and developing, supporting and maintaining processes and systems.
Possessing excellent attention to detail, consistency and strong analytical skills, you will have a demonstrated ability to manipulate large volumes of data efficiently and accurately.
Excellent interpersonal skills and strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing and the ability to work as part of a busy, high performing team, proactively supporting the team to become more effective and productive will be imperative.
High proficiency in MS Office applications is essential. Experience in using an ERP such as SAP and the ability to speak additional languages (French or Spanish in particular) would be an advantage.
