The Opportunity

Against a backdrop of external change, Plan International is working to transform how we operate, in order to deliver a bold new strategy. This includes modernising our operating model, business processes, systems and the way we work through a portfolio of global change projects ahead of the implementation of a new strategy, starting in 2017. One of the key projects critical to the future of Plan’s Strategy is the realization of Cost Savings across multiple categories of spend.

This exciting new position will work as part of a large new Project, hands on to improve the professionalisation of procurement practices in Plan, tackling a number of priority categories to re-engineer how we spend, reduce costs, and ensure that we are achieving the best possible value for money. These savings will enable us to redirect those essential resources into achieving more for children’s’ rights and equality for girls in our countries.

Key deliverables will include;

Managing and delivering Procurement activities for each Category, including international and national sourcing to maximise value for money and achieve set cost savings targets, working closely with others across the organisation to build knowledge, confidence and capacity on procurement best practices and value.

Undertaking detailed analysis to thoroughly understand the business needs and drivers, identify key areas for strengthening and provide relevant market information

Re-engineering approaches to category management to better meet the needs of the business across our entities, assisting in the development of new processes, procedures, tools and solutions

Leading on the negotiation and development of tenders and Long Term Agreements in priority categories.

The Individual

A qualified procurement professional you will have significant experience in establishing and developing strategic, long term supplier relationships. In addition you will have excellent strategic sourcing and/or category management expertise across a range of categories. And specific experience in Property & Premises, Consultancy and professional fees, Vehicles & vehicle equipment, Travel & Meetings, Marketing & Communications, ICT, Shipping, transportation and Couriers, Facilities Management, Recruitment & HR or Legal and Insurance.

Demonstrable experience in setting and achieving cost savings targets, detailed knowledge of procurement processes and contract creation and management and managing supplier performance will be essential.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing, with the ability to clearly articulate messages in a way that can be understood by a variety of audiences will be key to the success of this role. You will have strong planning and organisational skills with the ability to analyse information effectively.

Flexible and resilient, you will adapt to a range of conflicting needs and demands, maintaining progress towards our ambitious vision and goals.

Location: Plan International offices in Paris, France

Type of role: Eighteen months fixed term contract
