France: Data Protection and Compliance Officer (M/F)

Epicentre is a non-profit organization created in 1986 by Médecins Sans Frontières, whose activities include research, field epidemiology and training. Epicentre is a World Health Organization Collaborating Centre for Research in Epidemiology and Response to Emerging Diseases.Epicentre follows its activities from Paris, Geneva, Brussels, Barcelona, New-York and from research centres in Uganda and Niger.

Mission and Responsibilities

This position will cover activities related to various data and information technology (IT) topics at Epicentre. In particular, this position will involve ensuring compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) data management and IT standards for Epicentre clinical trials, as well as overall data protection activities for research.

Main Activities

Infrastructure setup and maintenance

  • Set up and manage servers (physical and virtual), operating systems, backup, and sync mechanisms required for clinical trials

  • Ensure security of hosting environments, servers, user devices, and data

  • Set up user devices with appropriate privileges and access rights

Database setup and support

  • Install, set up, and configure databases and clinical data management applications (CDMAs) for Epicentre research, including testing/development, training, and production instances

  • Support all databases used for clinical trials, including providing technical support

  • Maintain and track database/CDMA user access and management

Data protection and good clinical practice compliance

  • Work closely with Epicentre research and IT teams to ensure compliance with GCP standards for data management and IT related to clinical trials

  • Assist staff with data protection needs, including encryption and user access permissions

  • Maintain the Epicentre GCP Wiki (webpage)

  • Provide GCP and data protection trainings to Epicentre staff

  • Understand relevant regulatory and legislative requirements for data protection needs/requirements at Epicentre

  • Coordinate and maintain archiving of study-related data and documents in a long-term data repository

  • Develop and maintain close relationships with IT and data management teams at different Epicentre sites

Candidate requirements

  • Master degree in statistics, epidemiology or IT
  • Working experience of at least 2 years as clinical data manager, preferably with international/multi-sites experience
  • Good knowledge of Good Clinical Practices
  • Working knowledge of server (and related equipment) setup and management
  • Working knowledge of setup and management of databases and CDMAs, including REDCap and OpenClinica
  • Working knowledge of statistical software such as SAS and Stata preferable
  • Willing to learn relevant data protection legislation and regulatory requirements
  • Fluent in French and English
  • Good organizational and team skills

Conditions

  • Position based in Epicentre, Paris, France. Short-term Contract : 12 months, starting june 2018

  • Remuneration according to experience and Epicentre salary grid.
