Contract length: 12 months

The role

Lead on coordinating the Constituency of Practice, Education in WCA and support the Director of PDQ to ensure delivery of the WCA education strategy. Ensure Save the Children is represented at regional forums, including the inter-agency education meeting; EIE cluster and other relevant meetings and be the interface between Education Advisers , RO and Country Offices to ensure cross-learning/collaboration, sharing of good practice to improve program design and delivery across WCA.

Qualifications and experience

Essential:

  • Degree and working experience in basic education or relevant field.
  • Strong understanding of basic education, early childhood development and/or Girls Education issues and approaches
  • Experience of working in development and/or education sector in WCA
  • Bi-lingual- strong written and verbal communication skills in English and French
  • Strong computing skills
  • Good understanding of the challenges in education for children in WCA
  • Commitment to gender equity and inclusion
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a diverse working environment
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage stress
  • Understanding and commitment to ensure meaningful children participation
  • Understanding of Child Rights (CRC and African Charter)

    Desirable:

  • Knowledge and or interest of education in conflict affected countries/humanitarian

  • Understanding and skills in child rights programming

  • Experience of including children in decision-making and programing

  • Project cycle management and budgeting

  • MEAL
