Based at the International Secretariat in Paris, the Fundraising and Development Officer will be responsible for FIDH’s efforts to raise funds from, and strengthen relationships with institutional donors (private foundations and public bodies), as well as prospecting new sources of funding to help meet the growing financial needs of the organization. The Fundraising and Development Officer will work in close collaboration with staff members, under the supervision of the Director of Fundraising and Development, and the responsibility of the CEO and Executive Director.
Responsibilities of the Fundraising and Development Officer include but are not limited to:
-Writing proposals for core funding/general support and contributing to the elaboration of reports to donors on the use of these grants
-Supporting FIDH’s regional and thematic desks to elaborate and draft proposals for programme support, including ensuring consistency between activities and budget, and to report to donors on the use of these grants
-Identifying and soliciting new sources of support by matching FIDH’s programme interests and core-funding needs with the funding priorities of a broad array of foundations and public donors
-Building relationships with existing and new donors, including by insuring that donors are informed of developments in FIDH’s work
-Contributing to the development of the organization’s fundraising strategy
-Contributing to internal evaluation, including the development, appropriation and use of evaluation tools
-Managing a busy schedule of proposal and reporting deadlines
Qualifications:
-Postgraduate degree
-3-5 years of professional experience in fundraising and/or human rights work and excellent understanding of human rights issues
-Excellent oral and written communication skills in French and English
-Excellent interpersonal and representational skills and the ability to work effectively with staff, board members, and donors
-Experience with applying a results-based approach
-Commitment to the goals of FIDH and motivation to work in the non-profit sector
Conditions:
Annual gross salary of 31850 Euros minimum, based on experience. Recruitment at a lower level based on a modified position profile may be considered.
Long term contract , full time, starting 1 September 2016
Terms and conditions under French labour law will apply, 35 work hours per week
