SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL is particularly committed to fighting water-related diseases, the primary cause of death in the world today. Drawing on their expertise, our teams developed and carried out aid programs in the fields of water, sanitation and hygiene, as well as in the essential domains of food security and reconstruction. Active in around twenty countries the SI teams - 2000 people in total made ​​up of expatriates, national employees, permanent headquarter-based staff, a few volunteers - operate with professionalism and commitment, respecting local customs and cultures.

About the mission

Conjunctly to launching its emergency desk, SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL (SI) is looking to reinforce its emergency response capacity to crisis on its existing missions.

To cope with its substantial need in experienced collaborators, SI initiated various mobilisation mechanisms such as a Field Support Team (FST).

The FST pool will be made up of multidisciplinary resources, including Head of mission, Administrative coordinator, and rapid Program coordinator competencies. Members of FST will be required to mobilise 90% of their time on missions lasting between 2 weeks up to 3 months, according to the following needs:

  • Covering of strategic gaps and technical support to develop existing missions (1 to 3 months)
  • Assessment, opening of bases, and program support within existing missions (2 weeks to 1,5 months)
  • Assessment and opening of new missions (2 weeks to 1,5 months)
  • Support to headquarters’ desks as well as the technical department.

As a headquarter delegate, they represent the former throughout their deployments, and are therefore key members in carrying SI’s mandate and procedures in their assigned missions.

Functioning and organization chart

The FST members answer to the missions’ support needs through the 4 geographical desks of SI. Their deployment is under the supervision of the Director of Operations. When they are deployed, they work under the responsibility of the Head of Mission or the concerned desk.

About the position:

The program coordinator will ensure coordination of projects cycles, most particularly, will ensure to follow operational monitoring of programs within the country of intervention. He/she is responsible for the quality and relevance of technical approaches proposed and ensures adequacy between the activities, the general objectives of the organisation and the population’s needs.

He/she contributes, in line with the Head of mission, to the elaboration of SI’s strategy within the country through proposing a sectorial strategy for every WaSH, Food security and Shelter activities.

He/she puts forward the major strategic priorities of the mission through operational propositions, in conjunction with Program managers.

He/she contributes to SI’s knowledge capitalization and methodical and technical improvements.

He/she contributes to, or writes, proposals according to the established strategy that has been established for the country, in line with discussions engaged with financial donors.

He/she ensures program coordination with SI’s partners and relevant sectorial national actors.

He/she will also have to – alternatively – cover Technical Food Security and Livelihoods Coordinator. Previous experience within this field of expertise is therefore a prerequisite.

Responsibilities and principal activities of this position / Main list of tasks :

Coordination and operational monitoring

  • Supervising and supporting program managers, monitoring and evaluation of implemented activities
  • Methodological support to program managers regarding project planning and implementing of activities
  • Ensuring of thorough use of tools available in the Tool Box for project cycle management
  • Ensuring strengthening/validation of the programs’ planning and monitoring timetables
  • Validation of quality criteria and output indicators of the programs proposed by the program managers
  • Ensuring the existence and relevance of monitoring indicators
  • Anticipating difficulties linked to implementing activities and facilitating the resolution of issues linked to programs
  • Supporting program managers in coordinating with other humanitarian actors and local and national authorities to ensure activities’ implementation
  • Participating, with the program teams, to the various clusters within the zone of intervention

Technical support

  • Support program managers throughout planning and implementation their activities, whether these are WaSH, Food Security and Livelihoods or Shelter programs.
  • Within the Food Security and Livelihoods domain, support program managers regarding the technical dimension.

Your profile :

Educational background

  • Ideally, technical profile in Food security (agricultural engineer, Rural Development diploma or equivalent).

Necessary experiences :

  • Experience of at least 2 years as a Food Security Coordinator’s position or a Program Coordinator’s position;
  • Solid experience in management and coordination of humanitarian projects;
  • Experience working on multi-sectoral projects, including WaSH programs;
  • Experience working in emergency contexts with difficult security conditions;
  • Experience in project management and development is a plus;
  • Experience within one of SI’s missions is a plus;

Competencies and technical knowledge :

  • Food security and livelihoods technical competencies, including distribution and cash transfers, agricultural revival, etc..;
  • Capacity to analyse, synthesise and write for conceptual notes, project proposals, reports…;
  • Project management (assessment, training, planning, monitoring, evaluation, reporting, capitalisation);
  • Pack Office;
  • Mastery of mobile data capture/analysis software (ODK / Sphinx iQ / Sphinx Mobile) ;

Life Skills :

  • Ability to handle high workload in different varied domains;
  • Great organisational and remote team management skills;
  • Open-minded, rigorous, autonomous;
  • Ability to take initiative;
  • Dynamism/enthusiasm, reactive.

Languages :

  • French and English required.

SI will offer the following conditions :

  • Position based at SI’s HQ in Clichy
  • Permanent contract, manager position.
  • Taxable monthly salary of 2680 €
  • Restaurant vouchers (60% covered by SI),
  • Insurance while in France : insurance for health and contingency (80% covered by SI)
  • Insurance while on the field : insurance for health, contingency, repatriation, and liability (100% covered by SI)
  • 12 days of Time Worked Reduction days (“RTT”) per year, 5 weeks of paid leaves, and 1 compensation day per weekend spent on the field
  • Considerations for working away from HQ outside of deployments (10%) can be negotiated.
