Senegal: Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist

Chemonics seeks a monitoring and evaluation (M&E) specialist for the anticipated USAID Value Chain Services (VCS) project in Senegal. VCS will seek to enhance the productivity of smallholder farmers and community-based service providers as well as improve connections to the market for agricultural commodities such as rice, horticulture, and millet. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

Responsibilities include:

  • Contribute to the development, implementation, and coordination of the project's M&E system and performance monitoring plan, responding to USAID/Senegal and USAID/Washington data requests as needed
  • Work with chief of party and other technical staff to develop performance monitoring indicators and develop databases and spreadsheets for M&E data collection
  • Track, report, analyze, and update objectives, activities, indicators, and results over the life of the project implementation period
  • Train staff and selected partners on M&E system operations, and work with the M&E team to input data into the system
  • Contribute to project communications, including success stories; newsletters; lessons; best practices reports; and quarterly, annual, and final reports
  • Communicate information in a way that demonstrates an understanding of development assistance work and the specific scope and nature of VCS

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five years of M&E management experience, including experience on USAID M&E systems in Senegal and/or West Africa, in a similar position
  • Experience working on agricultural development projects, especially USAID projects, is highly desired
  • Experience working in a collegial project team environment
  • Comfortable producing PowerPoint and other presentations as well as leading discussions
  • Strong skills in Word, Excel, Access, and statistical programs required
  • Proficient in English and French
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
